In November 1983, EPSON Australia Pty Limited opened its doors for business with just two staff members working out of a sectioned-off industrial warehouse in Sydney's Frenchs Forest. Today, over ten years later, EPSON has 65 staff members throughout Australia and is one of Australia's leading printer suppliers. EPSON's involvement in printers began in 1964 with the development of a high speed, lightweight printer for the Tokyo Olympic Games, which led to the release in 1968 of the world's first successfully miniaturized printer. EPSON and Seiko, its partner in the 1964 Olympics project, merged to form SEIKO EPSON Corporation in 1985. In Australia, EPSON's head office is in Sydney with sales offices in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. In New Zealand offices are located in Auckland and Wellington.

Kyocera Corporation was founded in 1959 by its present Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Kazuo Inamori, and seven of his colleagues.
The remarkable diversification of Kyocera's product line has been achieved through two significant strategies. First, Kyocera has been very aggressive about developing new applications for its advanced ceramic technologies; and second, it continually integrates these ceramic technologies with others to create new and original products.
